PM Kobakhidze: Equality between people and elected gov’t to endure, leading to UNM’s ninth defeat
The people have a legally elected government, recognized by our partners, which establishes a clear equality between the public and its legitimately elected authorities, Georgian PM Irakli Kobakhidze told the media.
According to the Prime Minister, this equality will remain in effect following the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia, which he predicts will result in the ninth defeat of the collective United National Movement.
“As a result, relations will be reset between the European Union and the government, which once again reflects the legitimate choice of the Georgian people. Any attempt to undermine the equality between the people and the government is based on a so-called narrative that does not align with democratic practices. Everyone must respect the democratic choice of the Georgian people. Some may be frustrated that the Georgian people did not elect the collective National Movement in 2020, and some may become upset when the Georgian people again reject the collective National Movement in 2024. However, despite any frustrations, it is essential that everyone honours the choice made by the Georgian people,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
