“One of our primary objectives is to develop the country’s transit function; high-speed highways play a key role in this regard,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at the opening of a new 6-km section of the Samtredia-Grigoleti highway.

According to the PM, construction of new roads is an integral part of the transit resources development strategy.

“These processes are of particular significance for the economy. One of our primary objectives is to develop our country’s transit function and enhance its connectivity, and the construction of high-speed highways plays a pivotal role in this regard. Construction of new roads is an integral part of the transit resources development strategy. We also intend to expand the capacities of international airports.

In several years, by 2031, we will have a brand-new international airport in Tbilisi; prior to that, the capabilities and passenger capacity of Kutaisi International Airport will be significantly expanded, and the same applies to Batumi Airport,” he said.

The PM further stated that the government works on the development of the railway and ports.

“Everything is being done to ensure that our country moves to a qualitatively new stage within the next few years,” he concluded.
