PM: No plans to review Transparency and Family Values Laws; criticism in OSCE report unsubstantiated

“We will not review the Laws on Transparency and Family Values, as the criticism in the OSCE Moscow Mechanism report is not supported by evidence,” stated the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a briefing at the Government Administration.

Kobakhidze noted that while the practical shortcomings identified in the elections should be addressed, many other claims in the report are false.

“When it comes to practical issues in the elections, we must, of course, continue to work on them. Preventing misconduct is an ongoing responsibility, and we will take appropriate action. However, other claims in the report are untrue; for example, it mentions ‘torture,’ even though the author herself acknowledges that no torture was established. Similarly, regarding the laws on transparency and family values, we will not review them because the criticism is unsubstantiated. The same applies to other points, including subjective media assessments and regulations in the assembly section,” Kobakhidze said.
