PM meets with Majid Al Futtaim CEO

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Hani Weiss, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim, a company owning a chain of food retailers and supermarkets.

The topics for talks included the expansion of the holding portfolio in Georgia and the diversification of existing investments.

The meeting addressed the investment opportunities in hotels and real estate.

According to the Prime Minister, Majid Al Futtaim Group is successfully operating in Georgia and pledged support from the Government of Georgia if its current portfolio expands.

“Majid Al Futtaim has first-hand knowledge about Georgia’s success story, ease of doing business and potential that is being unleashed,” Garibashvili tweeted following the meeting.

Majid Al Futtaim is a United Arab Emirates holding owning and operating shopping malls and leisure destinations in 17 countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The holding employs 43,000 people, and its revenues amount to 8.8 billion USD. Majid Al Futtaim owns the Carrefour hypermarket in Georgia.

Accompanied by a delegation, the Georgian Prime Minister is in Switzerland to participate in the annual World Economic Forum. Within the scope of the visit, the Head of Government holds high-level bilateral meetings both with global leaders and the executives of large international companies.
