PM meets Diplomatic Advisor of French President

Key directions of cooperation between Georgia and France and the European perspective granted to Georgia were the main topics discussed at today’s meeting held between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Isabelle Dumont, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of France.

It was pointed out at the meeting that the close partnership between Georgia and France builds on mutual respect and common European values. According to the Prime Minister, Georgia is proud to have such a reliable partner as France with which it shares common interests.

Irakli Garibashvili thanked Isabelle Dumont for support of Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and European integration. The conversation also touched on the ongoing war in Ukraine and the situation in the South Caucasus. Emphasis was placed on the necessity of close political dialogue concerning European policy issues.

The Prime Minister underlined that Georgia remains committed to the idea of enhancing cooperation with France not only in the area of security, but also in the direction of deeper ties with the EU.

The issues discussed included the European Council’s decision to grant the perspective of EU membership to Georgia. The importance of France’s support in the process of European integration was underscored.

Special Envoy for the South Caucasus/Ambassador for the Eastern Partnership, Brice Roquefeuil, Ambassador of France to Georgia, Diego Colas, and the Head of the Government Administration, Revaz Javelidze attended the meeting at the Government Administration.
