Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Şeref Malkoç, Chief Ombudsman of Turkey.
The conversation at the meeting revolved around the strategic partnership between Georgia and Turkey, and the cooperation in the area of human rights between the two countries.
It was noted that Georgia channels formidable efforts toward the empowerment of the mechanisms for human rights protection in the country.
It was pointed out that, this year, the second, 2022-2030 Strategy for Human Rights Protection was developed with a view to further strengthening the systemic guarantees for the protection of human rights and freedoms in Georgia.
It was emphasized that, for effectively reaching the strategy’s goals and objectives, work is underway on the 2024-2026 Action Plan for Human Rights Protection which will define in detail various matters pertaining to children’s rights.
It was pointed out that the empowerment of the protection of human rights, including children’s rights, is the Government’s priority direction, and every activity of the Government in this field serves the purpose of carrying out these very priorities in practice.
In conclusion, the parties agreed to cooperate even more actively on all human rights matters that are important to those living in Georgia and Turkey.
The meeting at the Government Administration was attended by Deputy Ombudsman of Turkey Celile Özlem Tunçak and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia Ali Kaan Orbai.
