PM Kobakhidze meets Columbia Group President and CEO

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze has held talks with Andreas Hadjipetrou, President and CEO of Columbia Group.

Held on the sidelines of the Georgia International Maritime Forum (GIMF 2026), the meeting focused on the growing partnership between Georgia and Columbia Group. Discussions highlighted the company’s significant contribution to supporting Georgia’s maritime sector and creating employment opportunities for Georgian seafarers.

The Prime Minister emphasised that advancing the maritime industry remains a top priority for the Georgian government, reinforcing the nation’s role as a regional transport and logistics hub.

Both parties discussed rising cargo volumes and plans to further expand the country’s port capacity, with particular attention paid to the ongoing construction of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port.

The meeting also addressed prospects for future cooperation in enhancing maritime education and seafarer qualifications, including the rollout of joint educational programmes.

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani, Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani, and Director of the Maritime Transport Agency Ivane Abashidze attended the meeting.
