PM Kobakhidze invites Pope to Georgia; next year marks 17th centenary of conversion to Christianity

“I have invited the Pope to Georgia, and we sincerely hope he will accept the invitation,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists in Rome.

As the Head of Government emphasised, the Pope’s visit to Georgia would hold great significance.

“I extended an invitation to the Pope to visit Georgia. Such a visit would be highly meaningful, especially given that next year we will celebrate the 17th centenary of Georgia’s conversion to Christianity. In this context, a papal visit would be particularly important. I have conveyed this invitation to His Holiness, and we remain optimistic that he will accept and visit Georgia,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
