PM Kobakhidze: If crime is committed, investigation must be completed; SSSG is currently handling this
“If a crime has been committed, the investigation must be concluded, and the State Security Service is actively engaged in this process,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze affirmed in response to questions regarding the detention of former Defence Minister Bacho Akhalaia.
Regarding claims made by Akhalaia’s family, Kobakhidze noted that it is the responsibility of their family members and legal representatives to defend the accused.
“In truth, we cannot criticise the family members and lawyers; their role is to protect the accused, and naturally, they will continue to do so. It’s difficult to comment further. The key point remains: if a crime has been committed, the investigation must be thoroughly completed, and the State Security Service is currently working on this,” stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
