PM hopes US Ambassador's positive messages to transform into tangible decisions

“It would be great if the US introduced a visa-free regime for Georgian citizens, this would not be a challenge for the US in terms of migration policy,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

The PM said he wished Georgia’s relations with the US developed rapidly “somewhat likewise” Georgia had with China.

“If direct flights are introduced, if a free trade agreement is signed, economic ties are intensified and more investments enter – in all these directions, we have practically zero situation today – and if we have positive dynamics, we only welcome,” he said.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, he has heard positive messages from US Ambassador to Georgia, Robin Dunnigan but these messages had to transfigure into tangible decisions by the US government.

“I had a promising meeting with the US Ambassador. She had positive messages. Now these messages should transform into the US government’s decisions,” he said, adding he also wished resolution of protocol issues.

“It would be good that rather than third or fourth-rank officials congratulate presidents or prime ministers on the appointment, everything is decided on the highest level. This would positively reflect strategic partnership strengthening,” he said.
