PM hopes to pivot Georgian-US relations on right track, previous ambassador damaged relations

I hope that we can redirect Georgian-US relations on the right track. The previous ambassador, during her tenure, significantly damaged Georgian-American relations, the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

“We want to ensure that our partnership with the United States strengthens in the future. I hold a particular respect for the current ambassador, whose approach stands in contrast to that of the previous one. It gives us reason for optimism. I hope that we can redirect our relations on the right track. The previous ambassador, during her tenure, significantly damaged Georgian-American relations. It’s hard to imagine how things could have been worse,” stated Irakli Kobakhidze.

Regarding visa restrictions imposed by the United States, Kobakhidze stated that it has no practical impact.

“Visa restrictions previously placed on judges did not affect the judiciary’s independence or operations. However, they damaged America’s reputation. Imposing such restrictions without substantiated facts or evidence reflects poorly on any country. In this case, the American decision lacked credible grounds,” Kobakhidze remarked.
