PM: Guram Gabiskiria's name to remain immortal

“The name of Guram Gabiskiria will remain immortal as an example of loyalty to the motherland, perseverance and fighting spirit for each of us and future generations,” said Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze remarking on the birth date of Guram Gabiskiria, late Sokhumi Mayor.

“Today, with pain and pride, we remember unforgettable words of the Georgian spirit: ‘Never, as long as I live,” said the PM.

Guram Gabiskiria, 2 (March 1947 – 27 September 1993) was a Mayor of Sokhumi (the capital of the occupied Abkhazia region). After the Fall of Sokkhumi, he was taken as a captive and shot dead.
