Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held a phone conversation on Tuesday.
Georgia’s application for EU membership and the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine were the main topics of the conversation.
The close partnership between Georgia and Germany in various fields, based on common values and interests – ensuring international security and stability, was underlined.
The Prime Minister noted that Georgia appreciates Germany’s role on the path to European and Euro-Atlantic integration and hopes for Germany’s strong support in the process of considering Georgia’s application for EU membership.
The sides discussed the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine and the resulting deteriorating security environment in the Eastern European region.
Irakli Gharibashvili once again stressed the need for joint efforts of the international community and world leaders to end the war as soon as possible.
