PM: Georgia to appeal to Ofcom and, if necessary, to international justice to hold the BBC accountable
“Alongside the investigation, we plan to lodge appeals with both the Office of Communications (Ofcom), the UK’s regulator for the communications services, and, if required, international justice mechanisms, to ensure the BBC is held accountable and to compel it to refute the false information disseminated by foreign intelligence,” stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a briefing at the government administration.
According to the Prime Minister, it is of critical importance that the false information disseminated by the BBC does not remain unchallenged.
“It is fundamentally important to us that the false information spread by the BBC does not go unanswered. Therefore, as previously announced, in addition to conducting the investigation, we intend to appeal to both the Office of Communications (Ofcom), the UK’s regulator for the communications services, and, if required, international justice mechanisms, to ensure the BBC is held accountable and to compel it to refute the false information disseminated by the foreign intelligence,” added the Prime Minister.
