PM: Georgia reaffirms commitment to enhance transport links between China and Europe via Middle Corridor

“China has become one of Georgia’s principal trading partners,” stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his address at the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo.

As the Head of Government highlighted, the implementation of the free trade agreement in January 2018, covering nearly 95 per cent of Georgian exports, has revolutionised the trading landscape and led to a substantial increase in trade volumes.

“In the first nine months of 2025 alone, the trade turnover reached USD 1.6 billion, marking an impressive 15 per cent rise. This growth reflects the robustness of our bilateral economic relations and signals even greater potential for future expansion. China’s continuous endeavours to open up its vast market, alongside expanded access to key sectors, offer substantial opportunities for Georgian businesses to enter global markets and foster innovation.

The number of containers transported along the Middle Corridor between China and Georgia increased by 71% from January to August 2025. Moreover, the volume of cargo transported in 2024 was fifteen times higher than the previous year.

Georgia once again affirms its readiness to continue cooperation along the Middle Corridor to facilitate growth of transport flows between China and Europe,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
