PM: Georgia imposes no sanctions on Russia but prevents its territory from being used for sanctions circumvention
“The government has a clear policy, and it extends to state structures and those organizations which are linked with the state, such as Georgian Railway,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
The PM answered a question about Georgian Railway concluding tenders with sanctioned citizens. He rejected the information and advised reporters to “do additional research.”
Speaking about new allegations on the circumvention of internationally imposed sanctions by Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze reiterated Georgia did not join the sanctions but the government tried its best so that Georgia’s territory was not used for bypassing the sanctions.
“Although we do not impose sanctions, we do our best to ensure that our territory is not used for sanction circumvention. Cooperation with a sanctioned company is not allowed. It was our policy. Everyone can say anything, but you can do additional research and make sure that it is a lie,” he said.
