PM: Georgia could teach democracy to many OSCE member states; our government acts in line with Georgian people's will

“Georgia is a democratic state fully capable of teaching democracy, human rights, tolerance, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press, media pluralism, political pluralism, democratic elections, and a great deal else besides to many OSCE member states, including more than a few of those who initiated the Moscow Mechanism. On these subjects, Georgia is ready to engage in open public debate with anyone who lays claim to objectivity,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has stated at a briefing held at the Government Administration.

According to the Prime Minister, what Georgia needs is not the perpetual sabotage of its democratic system, but the proper functioning of its constitutional order.

“Georgia needs not obscurity but transparency. Georgia does not need total LGBT propaganda, but the protection of family values and the interests of minors. Georgia needs not perpetual chaos and disorder but peace and stability. Georgia needs not lies and hatred but impartial media. Georgia needs not the tyranny of a minority over the majority but democratic governance by the majority. Georgia needs not criminality in politics but the rule of law in the governance of the state. Georgia needs not what the authors of the Moscow Mechanism are demanding, but what the people of Georgia endorsed at the 2024 parliamentary elections. That is peace, sovereignty, and progress for our country. The Georgian government acts, and will continue to act, in accordance with the will of the Georgian people,” the Prime Minister declared.
