PM: Failed revolution attempts proved government’s strength

The past two years have been very difficult, and the policy previously pursued toward Georgia by European institutions has continued, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in an interview with POSTV.

According to the head of government, this included what he described as interference by European officials in Georgia’s democratic elections.

“The EU ambassador made direct statements. On October 4, when an attempted overthrow was publicly announced, the European bureaucracy, through its press spokesperson, openly supported it,” Kobakhidze said.

The Prime Minister also claimed there had been unsuccessful attempts at revolution over the past two years, which he said demonstrated the government’s strength.

“During these two years, we managed to adopt the ‘Transparency Law.’ These were difficult processes that our government went through shortly after its approval. As for how funds received from abroad were used, there were numerous propaganda lines, including those directed against state institutions, the Orthodox Church, and social institutions, aimed at sowing hatred. We could not allow this. There were attempts at revolution here as well, which ended unsuccessfully, and this shows the strength of the government. We won two elections, which is naturally the result of the policy we are pursuing. Society sees this,” the Prime Minister said.
