PM extends appreciation to former Interior Minister Gomelauri for loyal service

“I would like to express my gratitude to Vakhtang Gomelauri for his loyal service to the country over many years,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a briefing at the Government Administration.

According to the Prime Minister, Gomelauri has thwarted four attempted revolutions in the country. Kobakhidze noted that Vakhtang Gomelauri resigned at his own request, a decision the PM described as “regrettable.”

“Mr Gomelauri was a highly experienced minister who held this position for over ten years. He served as head of the State Security Service of Georgia and as Vice Prime Minister. His tenure was demanding, requiring considerable energy and dedication,” he said.

The Prime Minister expressed his thanks to Vakhtang Gomelauri for serving the country loyally and with dignity.

“You all remember that he assumed his post during a difficult period, yet he swiftly implemented reforms within the ministry and successfully fulfilled his responsibilities as Minister of Internal Affairs for public security in our country.

Furthermore, I want to emphasize that Gomelauri played a vital role in preventing four revolution attempts in Georgia. Vakhtang Gomelauri is an outstanding individual. I wish him success in his future endeavours. He is our friend, and I wish him all the best,” he concluded.

Today, Vakhtang Gomelauri, Georgia’s Minister of Internal Affairs and Vice Prime Minister, announced his resignation.
