PM emphasizes new Transparency Law to track foreign financial influences in Georgia
“I don’t want to speak about any foreign organization in a negative context. However, I will say that transparency is crucial,” stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of ensuring that foreign funds are spent transparently in Georgia.
“We do not restrict anyone from financing. Some may even support revolutionary movements in our country. However, it is essential that this financing is transparent so that society has complete knowledge of foreign influences. The law on transparency was enacted with this objective in mind.
There is no alternative to transparency. One cannot orchestrate or fund a revolution in our country without maintaining transparency. This is a correct approach. Georgian society deserves to be informed about all financial inflows into our country. This is the fundamental purpose of the adopted law,” he asserted.
“Transparency has no alternative. One cannot organize and finance a revolution in our country non-transparently. This is correct practice. The Georgian society should know everything about the finances that enter our country. This is the main thing. This is what the adopted law serves for,” he said.
