“We have fully shared information with the European Union, confirming that the sanctions regime is not being breached in Kulevi. This is our duty,” stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the Prime Minister, the entire package was doomed from the outset, and therefore, the initiative itself was never revised.
“They did not revisit the draft because it was doomed to failure from the very outset. The entire package was destined to fail, so the draft itself was not revised. Whatever information they request, we provide it all. We bear responsibility for safeguarding the sanctions regime and defending the national interests of this country. No matter how much hope there is that something will be done against our country, we will do everything to prevent harm to anyone here.
For four years, a war has been ongoing. During this time, you have shamefully continued to speculate that the sanctions regime is being violated in Georgia. Numerous missions from the European Union, Britain, and the United States have repeatedly confirmed that there have been no violations. Yet, shamefully, you persist in undermining the national interests of our country. This is a tragic situation.
What your party did until 2012, and what it continues to do, is destroy this country day by day. You have been repeating the same falsehoods over the past four years, just as before. It is shameful. Sergo Ordzhonikidze came to Georgia from here. You are doing Sergo Ordzhonikidze’s work. When you try to damage your own country’s national interests over many years, that is exactly what this amounts to,” said the Prime Minister.
