PM considers cyber security as crucially vital

“Ensuring cyber security is vital for both state security and society and normal functioning of business,” said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, addressing the Second Cyber Security Forum.

The PM said cyber security is the fundamental challenge of the 21st century, while digitalizing is an inseparable and organic part of the technical development of modern civilization.

“Our society, our country’s economy, education system, public services, government activities, or the daily life of ordinary people are closely linked with digital technologies,” he said.

According to Irakli Garibashvili, the government, together with international partners and donors, the US, EU and NATO member states, takes significant steps to fight against cyber crimes.

The government provided a legislative base and national cyber security strategy and staffed state institutions with qualified personnel.

“The educational research of cyber security is also developing in our country so that the country can keep up pace with advanced technological changes,” said the Prime Minister.

The PM further noted that the significance of cyber security would increase in the future.

“The government will make more effort and pay attention to cyber security. It is important that there are different formats for discussion on this issue, and today’s forum is such an example,” he added.
