PM: Borjomi project's social impact vital; nearly 600 jobs mean stable income and development prospects

“The social impact of the new Borjomi project is most significant, nearly 600 local employees means stable income for just as many families and, simultaneously, new prospects for wellbeing and development for the entire region, for Borjomi municipality,” Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze declared during his speech at the Borjomi factory opening ceremony.

According to him, the Georgian government’s priority is to support the development of precisely such national production.

“Our government’s priority is to maximally support the development of exactly this kind of national production, which creates wealth within the country and provides Georgia with the reputation of a high-quality producer on a global scale. I thank the company’s management, each investor, and all employees for initiating and successfully executing this nationally significant endeavour. I congratulate you on this important day and wish you success in establishing the Georgian name in the global market,” the Prime Minister stated.

Irakli Kobakhidze went on to say that today marks the beginning of a new, even more ambitious stage in the history of Borjomi mineral water production.

“As a result of work begun just two years ago, here in Kvibisi, a factory meeting international standards has opened on 48,000 square metres,” Kobakhidze said.

According to the Prime Minister, the initial capacity of four ultra-modern bottling lines is 750 million bottles per year, reaching one billion by 2030.

“The USD 120 million investment made for this project is the largest ever undertaken in this sector in independent Georgia’s history,” the Premier announced.

According to the head of government, Borjomi is Georgia’s calling card throughout the world.

“Borjomi is not only historically the first, leading mineral water company in Georgia, but it is our country’s calling card throughout the world. Here, at this enterprise, Borjomi’s 135-year history intersects with future technologies and modern European production standards; the factory is constructed using energy-efficient materials, and every stage of production adheres to the highest international environmental standards. This is a bridge between our unique heritage and a responsible, sustainable future.

It is commendable that the company does not rest on its laurels, but continually offers consumers innovative products such as Borjomi lemonade and new water lines. Alongside new technologies, this supports the realisation of the company’s ambitious strategic vision to establish a presence in the United States, China, and the Middle East markets as well,” the Prime Minister declared.
