PM: All projects to be delivered cost-effectively, with full responsibility taken by Georgian government
“In recent months, we have managed to sustain a high rate of economic growth despite the necessity of temporarily suspending several infrastructure projects, owing to our ongoing fight against corruption and cartel deals,” stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at today’s government session.
The Prime Minister further explained that this year’s economic losses, resulting from the crackdown on corruption and the promotion of fair competition, will be offset in the coming year.
“In recent months, we have maintained robust economic growth, even though some infrastructure projects had to be put on hold in the context of our fight against corruption and cartel practices. This was reflected in the monthly economic growth figures to some extent. However, the setbacks experienced this year due to the elimination of corruption and the promotion of fairer competition will be more than compensated for in the coming year. The eradication of unhealthy practices in sectors such as energy, railways, and other infrastructure areas will foster rapid economic development, directly contributing to higher growth rates next year.
All projects, including infrastructure initiatives, will be carried out as cost-effectively as possible, with a guarantee of high quality. The Georgian government takes full responsibility for fulfilling this commitment,” affirmed Kobakhidze.
