Persistent cold and intermittent precipitation forecast in Georgia until January 18

The National Environment Agency (NEA) reports that cold and intermittently precipitating weather will continue across Georgia until January 18.

Forecasters indicate that Tbilisi will experience predominantly cold and dry conditions on January 15-16, with snowfall expected on January 17. Night-time temperatures will range from -3°C to -5°C, while daytime temperatures will reach between +2°C and +4°C.

Coastal regions, including Batumi, Kobuleti, Anaklia, and Poti, are expected to see rainy weather. Night-time temperatures will hover around +1°C to +3°C, with daytime highs reaching +5°C to +7°C.

Precipitation in the lowland areas of Western Georgia, namely Zestafoni, Kutaisi, Samtredia, Zugdidi, Martvili, and Ozurgeti, is anticipated mainly in the form of snow. Night temperatures will be between -1°C and -3°C, rising to +4°C to +6°C during the day.

In the mountainous parts of Western Georgia, including Ambrolauri, Oni, Tsageri, Shovi, Chiatura, Sachkhere, Khulo, and the Rikoti Pass, snow is expected intermittently. Night-time temperatures are forecast to be between -5°C and -10°C, with daytime temperatures around -1°C to -3°C.

Higher elevations in Western Georgia, such as Mestia and Bakhmaro, will also see occasional snow. Night temperatures could drop to between -13°C and -15°C, with daytime temperatures ranging from -5°C to -7°C.

In Kartli, including Rustavi, Bolnisi, Marneuli, Gardabani, Gori, and Tskhinvali, some snowfall is anticipated. Night-time temperatures will be around -6°C to -8°C, with daytime temperatures between +1°C and +3°C.

In Kakheti, covering Sagarejo, Telavi, Gurjaani, Sighnaghi, Lagodekhi, Kvareli, Akhmeta, and Dedoplistskaro, snow is expected in certain areas. Night temperatures will range from -5°C to -7°C, with daytime highs of +2°C to +4°C.

Eastern Georgia’s mountainous regions, including Akhaltsikhe, Borjomi, Dusheti, Tianeti, and Pasanauri, are also forecast to receive snow in some locations. Night-time temperatures are expected to be between -12°C and -14°C, with daytime temperatures around -2°C to -4°C.

The high mountain areas of Eastern Georgia, Akhalkalaki, Tsalka, Bakuriani, Gudauri, and Omalo, may experience snow and blizzards in certain places. Night temperatures could plunge to between -18°C and -20°C, with daytime temperatures between -6°C and -8°C.
