Patriots’ Alliance collecting signatures with purpose of initiating Constitutional change
The parliamentary Patriots’ Alliance Faction is collecting signatures of lawmakers with the purpose of initiating constitutional change regarding transformation onto the proportional system of elections for 2020 parliamentary polls in Georgia. Initiation of changes needs signatures of 76 MPs.
Giorgi Lomia, Chairman of the faction said that the faction has the list of whose lawmakers, who supported the draft-project during the November 14 balloting. “We also hope that those, who voted against the bill, will show common sense and will not put the country face to face with the real crisis and support the project. I don’t think that any MP can endure the psychological pressure of people especially under the background of protests,” Lomia said.
The Patriots’ Alliance proposed a new election draft-project to the parliament based on which 0, 67% natural election barrier will be replaced with the 0,7% threshold.
