Patriarch published letter of condolence over Tkibuli mine tragedy

Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II released the letter of condolence over Tkibuli mine tragedy.

The letter of condolence is published on the web page of the Patriarchate of Georgia.

“Our grief is huge over the tragedy which occurred in the Tkibuli mine leaving six people dead. Nothing happens without the will of the Lord, but perhaps, we have to take more care to protect human life.

We are praying for the souls of deceased. And for their family members and relatives to give them the firm conviction that life does not end with death, but it is the beginning of eternal life for which we all must be prepared”, – the statement of Patriarch reads.

Six miners died and another three were injured as a result of a rock burst at the Mindeli mine in Tkibuli, The accident occurred at 04:00am yesterday.

An investigation was launched under the second part of the Article #240 of Criminal Code of Georgia, pertaining to the violation of safety rules.

Mourning day is observed in Georgia.  According to the decision of Georgia’s government, April 6 was declared as mourning day, because of the tragedy that occurred in Tkibuli mine, Imereti region.
