Passenger Transportation Director: New passenger rights regulations will drive further improvements in service quality

“The introduction of new regulations safeguarding passenger rights is a vital milestone alongside the ongoing reforms across Georgian Railway,” stated Dachi Tsaguria, Director of Passenger Transportation at Georgian Railway.

According to Tsaguria, procurement procedures are already underway for 10 new passenger trains, alongside the ongoing overhaul of 5 existing trains. He noted that passenger services will be operated using these upgraded trains in the near future.

“As of August, Georgian Railway reduced travel time between Tbilisi and Batumi to under four hours, dramatically improving overall service standards, while the overhaul of passenger stations has entered an active phase. Throughout the summer season, Georgian Railway introduced a range of enhancements for passengers. In addition to these upgrades, new passenger protection rules have taken effect under the order of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development. Protecting passenger rights is, of course, paramount; therefore, the enactment of this document is both right and timely. I am confident that this will help us further elevate our service quality,” Tsaguria stated.
