Party of Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan loses local elections in more than 30 provinces
The ruling party of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan loses the local elections in more than 30 provinces and the capital, Ankara. 99% of the votes has been already counted.
The opposition is also ahead in the contest for mayor of the largest city, Istanbul.
The opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) wins elections in Izmir, Antalya, Hatay and Artvin.
In the south-east of the country, the opposition pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) wins the elections.
Local elections were held on March 31 in Turkey.
