The spring session of Georgia’s eleventh convocation Parliament will open on February 3. According to the rules of procedure, the spring session of the Parliament of Georgia opens on the first Tuesday of February.
As the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, announced at today’s Bureau meeting, he will present the annual report on Parliament’s activities to the legislative body in the first week of March.
At today’s meeting, the Bureau of Parliament considered new legislative initiatives and adopted a decision to commence its committee hearings.
According to the legislative package initiated by the Georgian Dream faction, amendments are planned to the Law on Grants, the Criminal Code, the Code of Administrative Procedure, the Code of Administrative Offences, the Organic Law on Political Associations of Citizens, and the Law on the State Audit Office.
The Bureau designated the Legal Issues Committee as the lead committee for the package of legislative amendments.
According to a legislative bill initiated by the Government of Georgia “On Amendments to the Law on Remuneration in Public Institutions”, a provision will be added to the law’s norm which regulates the maximum amount of remuneration for trainees in the public service, according to which the operation of this norm will not extend to remuneration of trainees in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ structural subdivisions abroad.
Furthermore, the legislative bill will introduce a provision to the law stating that trainees in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ overseas structural divisions shall receive remuneration up to the maximum amount specified by a legal act of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to a legislative bill initiated by the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, “On Amendments to the Law on Public Service”, the name of a ministry of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara is being changed. Specifically, instead of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, the Ministry of Education and Sport of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara will be indicated.
As Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili announced that plenary sittings will take place in Parliament next week on February 3 and 4.
