Georgian Parliament’s extraordinary session was revoked today due to no quorum since only 65 lawmakers registered. The MPs were due to discuss amendments to the Defence Code.
The Chairman of the Georgian Dream faction Mamuka Mdinaradze reprimanded the lawmakers for their absence.
“When we say to convene, be it at the end of July or August, come and work to understand what the parliamentary activities mean,” he said.
Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee Irakli Beraia said: “Today’s case confirms irresponsible and anti-state attitude of the opposition toward defence and security issues.”
Parliament Speaker criticized opposition MPs by saying: “When the majority did not undergo registration, you protested, and now you legitimized this and confirmed that this is part of the parliamentary life.”
“The Defence Law is so immoral before the Georgian army and youth that we have full moral legitimization to do our best to prevent the Georgian Dream from adopting it,” Iago Khvichia, a member of the Girchi party, told the GPB’s First Channel.
