Parliamentary commission to cooperate with distributors, retailers, manufacturers, and importers to reduce prices

“We aim to thoroughly examine the processes involved in the price formation chain, exploring opportunities to optimise this chain, which should ultimately lead to lower prices for consumer products and fast-moving consumer goods,” stated Shota Berekashvili, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Sectoral Economics and Economic Policy, following a meeting with representatives of distribution companies, held within the framework of the Cross-Government Coordination Commission on Food Prices.

Berekashvili added that the sector has put forward various proposals.

“We have heard a range of proposals from industry representatives, and we will continue to work closely with them. A dedicated commission will be established within Parliament to collaborate with distributors, retailers, manufacturers, and importers on this matter. Ultimately, we believe that, over time, we will be able to achieve a reduction in prices. All of this will have a positive impact on our consumers and the citizens of Georgia,” Berekashvili concluded.
