Parliament Speaker: Our expectations of USA are higher after standing firm by it when Europe withdrew
“We are currently in a phase of strategic patience,” stated Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, during an interview on Rustavi 2 TV.
The Speaker discussed the reset of Georgia’s relationship with the United States.
“We view all relationships through the prism of our national interests. Primarily, our focus is on our country, its interests, and our core national objectives, of which there are two: the unification of our nation and the enhancement of our people’s well-being. To achieve these aims, cooperation with others is essential.
When we talk about the USA, a country with which we have demonstrated a strategic partnership not merely on paper but through action, especially considering that we stood with them in war during a time when half of Europe withdrew from the conflict. Naturally, we hold higher expectations. Having made such a significant contribution to our partnership, we anticipate an appropriate response. We are exercising strategic patience,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
