Parliament Speaker calls for meeting with Polish Ambassador to address incident involving Polish doctor

Shalva Papuashvili, the Georgian Parliament Speaker, expressed his concern over the recent incident involving a Polish doctor, as reported by the Penitentiary Service.

Papuashvili described the incident as shameful and emphasized the need for clarification.

“This is not an ordinary group, this is a special medical group under the Polish government. When trust and goodwill are abused like this, it’s sad,” he remarked.

He added that the Minister of Justice has already reached out to the Minister of Foreign Affairs to arrange a meeting with the Polish ambassador. Papuashvili expressed hope that this meeting will take place soon to determine the ambassador’s position on the matter.

The Special Penitentiary Service on Friday released a statement and video footage showing a Polish doctor “trying to sneak out the paper-wrapped sample taken from the jailed ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili in his shoes.”
