Parliament Speaker believes visit to India will bring our nations even closer

“I believe the visit to India will bring our countries’ relations even closer,” Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, told journalists concerning his official visit to India.

He emphasised that this is a historic milestone.

“It is important to emphasise that this is the first high-level visit in the history of Georgia-India bilateral relations. It is crucial to lay the groundwork for ongoing high-level exchanges between our countries, as well as to strengthen parliamentary and business ties in accordance with our committee’s objectives. Today’s discussions will primarily focus on economic relations.

India, being one of the world’s largest economies, plays a vital role, and it is important for Georgia, as a key part of the Middle Corridor, to remain an attractive partner for India in connecting with Europe.

Parliaments have an essential role in fostering a favourable political environment, which in turn supports economic collaboration. I am confident that this visit will deepen the bonds between our nations,” concluded Shalva Papuashvili.
