Parliament overrides President's NBG bill veto

Georgian Parliament has overridden the President’s veto of the National Bank (NBG) bill.

During the plenary, the draft law, along with the President’s motivated remarks, was initially voted on but failed to secure the required support.

Later, the original draft bill was put to a vote, receiving 82 MPs’ backing, while nine voted against it.

The changes introduce an additional executive position on the National Bank board, the post of First Vice-President. The First Vice-President will assume responsibilities in the absence of the NBG President.

On February 23, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili vetoed the bill.
