The Georgian Parliament has elected three new members to the Board of Trustees of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB).
MPs approved the candidacies of Izabela Osipova, Soso Sturua, and Giorgi Iakobashvili.
Izabela Osipova was nominated under the quota of the Public Defender, Soso Sturua under the quota of the Supreme Council of Adjara, and Giorgi Iakobashvili under the quota of the parliamentary majority.
An open competition for selecting candidates for the Board of Trustees of Public Broadcasting was announced on May 20. The Parliamentary Competition Commission selected 11 candidates. From this list, candidates were chosen based on quotas and presented to Parliament by the Public Defender, the Supreme Council of Adjara, and the parliamentary majority.
The Board of Trustees comprises 11 members. According to parliamentary regulations, two trustees are elected based on nominations from the Public Defender, three from factions within the parliamentary majority, three from factions in the parliamentary opposition with the largest representation, and three from the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
