Parliament agrees that Prosecutor’s Office applied to Court with motion to impose imprisonment to Nika Melia
The Georgian parliament today held the voting and agreed that the General Prosecutor’s Office applied to the Court with the motion to impose imprisonment to Nika Melia, MP of the National Movement Party. Lawmakers discussed the issue at the plenary sitting. The 91 MPs voted for, and 0 – against.
The Georgian Parliamentary Procedural and Legal Affairs Committees discussed Nika Melia’s issue earlier this afternoon. The 6 MPs of Procedural Committee voted for, one – against, while lawmakers of Legal Affairs Committee supported the issue with 9 votes and 3 – against.
On June 25, the General Prosecutor’s Office charged Nika Melia, a member of the National Movement, in connection with the June 20 developments in front of the parliament building at Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi.
