Opposition parties in Adjara appealed to the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia on Wednesday.

The opposition demands snap elections as ‘the government rigged 2020 October elections.’

“We understand the efforts of partner countries, the international community to bring political processes within the parliament as normal democratic countries do. Georgian government not only rigged the elections but seized power completely. Please, urge the government once again to return to the constitutional space and schedule new elections according to the amended Election Code,” the opposition’s joint statement reads.

The opposition representatives have been holding rallies in front of Adjara Government House since November 8. Protesters are demanding snap elections as well as the resignation of the Central Election Commission (CEC) and Adjara Supreme Election Commission (SEC).
