Opposition criticizes Citizens party over consensus with GD
The opposition parties criticize the Citizens’ decision to halt the boycott and enter the parliament. They believe their choice would not affect other opposition parties’ stance.
“Aleko Elisashvili and Levan Ioseliani will become a part of the Georgian Dream party,” United National Movement (UNM) leader, Giorgi Baramidze said on Friday. He noted that other opposition parties would retain their integrity.
Labour Party member Giorgi Gugava shares Baramidze’s opinion and thinks: “Elisashvili struggled a lot and finally joined Georgian Dream.”
“It does not matter whether Elisashvili enters the parliament, peg-house or kiosk,” Gugava stated.
Strategy Agmashenebeli leader Giorgi Vashadze added that Aleko Elisashvili and Levan Ioseliani’s decision would not alter the opposition’s demands.
“This will not change our position. The parliament remains illegitimate,” Vashadze stressed.
Earlier today, opposition MPs from Citizens party Aleko Elisashvili and Levan Ioseliani decided to enter parliament. Four former members of the Alliance of Patriots opposition party Avtandil Enukidze, Zaza Mikadze, Fridon Injia, and David Zilpimiani, halted the boycott and entered parliament earlier. Other opposition MPs refuse to take mandates as they believe elections were a fraud and demand snap elections.
