Levan Ioseliani, the Public Defender of Georgia, met with Bacho Akhalaia, Paata Burchuladze, Murtaz Zodelava, Grigol Liluashvili, Mikheil Saakashvili, Irakli Garibashvili, and Levan Khabeishvili during his visit to the 12th Penitentiary Institution in Rustavi.

The Public Defender’s Office has issued a statement regarding the visit.

“On February 4, the Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, visited the 12th penitentiary institution in Rustavi, which functions as both a semi-open and closed-type facility.

During the visit, he engaged with the institution’s administration, assessed the living conditions of the inmates, and held conversations with the prisoners: Bacho Akhalaia, Paata Burchuladze, Murtaz Zodelava, Grigol Liluashvili, Mikheil Saakashvili, Irakli Garibashvili, and Levan Khabeishvili.

The Public Defender regularly monitors penitentiary institutions and oversees the safeguarding of prisoners’ rights,” the Office stated.
