A new bridge next to the old, so-called historic Pompey’s Bridge across the Mtkvari River, is being constructed in Mtskheta town.
The Roads Department of Georgia is implementing the project, valued at 6.6 million GEL.
The old bridge dating to 1926, with its technical condition, is outdated and fails to satisfy modern standards.
The new bridge fully complies with the architectural, aesthetic and historical requirements of Mtskheti and ensures free traffic flow.
Mtskheta bridge is the only way to connect with the city from the Tbilisi side.
In addition, through it, the city is connected to the Mtskheta railway station and the Zahesi-Mtskheta-Kavtishkevi-Gori-Kareli-Osiauri highway.
