The new tunnel, which is 1,800 meters long, runs parallel to the existing Rikoti tunnel and is now the longest tunnel on the Ricoti Pass road. The Ministry reports that 36 kilometres of the new Ricoti highway are already in use, including 77 bridges and 43 tunnels.

In total, a 52-kilometer, 4-lane highway is being constructed on the Rikoti Pass, featuring 51 tunnels and 97 bridges, with 50 tunnels and 89 bridges already completed.

The newly constructed road adheres to modern road safety standards, including an advanced lighting system, ensuring safer and more efficient travel between the eastern and western parts of the country.
