NBG President meets Visa's regional president

The President of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, met with Tariq Mahmood, Regional President for the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA) region of the international card scheme Visa.

According to information from the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), the parties discussed ongoing developments in the payments market, reforms implemented and planned by the National Bank of Georgia, as well as opportunities to deepen cooperation with Visa.

“Particular attention was devoted to the development of payment systems, the implementation of innovative projects and the strengthening of consumer protection mechanisms. Operational security issues were also discussed.

Cooperation between the National Bank of Georgia and Visa encompasses financial education initiatives, information exchange, development of payment infrastructure and the implementation of new technologies. The existing cooperation plays a vital role in strengthening the country’s payments ecosystem.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration in the development of payment systems, the promotion of innovative services, and the enhancement of operational security.

Also attending the meeting were Vice-President of the National Bank of Georgia Ekaterine Galdava, Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager for Visa CISSEE, Christina Doros, and the NBG’s heads of international and payments directions, Giorgi Edilashvili and Natalia Chkhoidze,” states information released by the National Bank of Georgia.
