NBG predicts 5% economic growth in Georgia in 2021

President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), Koba Gvenetadze, says the country’s economy would likely shrink by 5% in 2020 but grow by 5% in 2021.

Gvenetadze thinks making predictions amid pandemic is difficult due to untold uncertainty. “Much depends on the Covid-19 vaccine accessibility around the world, including Georgia,” stated Gvenetadze.

NBG president added that the National Bank would update the macroeconomic forecasts and economic growth data in February 2021.
