NBG Acting President participates in USAID Financial Innovations program-organized event

Acting President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), Natia Turnava partook in the event organized by the USAID Financial Innovations program.

In her speech, the NBG thanked USAID and the US government for support, saying the promotion of foreign investments, trade agreements, and technical assistance significantly contributed to economic growth and people’s welfare in Georgia.

Natia Turnava spoke about diverse investment resources and innovative financial products accessible to the private sector.

“Georgia has all the preconditions to become the region’s financial innovations hub. The NBG holds the leading role in the innovative and financial technologies development. The NBG developed a strategic approach, which is oriented toward open regulations and is adapted to the specific needs of the financial system participants. Our goal is to stimulate the financial system’s digitalization,” she said.

The NBG reviewed the USAID-supported projects, stressing FinTech and Open Banking contribute to attracting innovations.

USAID’s Financial Innovation Program is a five-year program with a budget of USD 18.9 million. Through the program, USAID fosters strengthening the country’s prosperity, security, democracy, and Euro-Atlantic integration.
