National Wine Agency reports drop in alcoholic beverage violations following rigorous state quality controls

State supervisory authorities carried out 15 inspections across five companies between January and August of this year to monitor the quality of alcoholic beverages produced in Georgia. The inspections aimed to assess whether technological wine-production processes at manufacturing facilities complied with Georgian statutory requirements.

According to the National Wine Agency, zero violations were detected across all 31 samples collected during these facility inspections.

Additionally, 213 regulatory inspections were conducted across 44 companies to verify that batch samples submitted for certification met official standards. Non-compliance was identified in just nine samples across four companies out of 557 samples taken.

At the Customs Clearance Zone, international auditing firms Bureau Veritas and SGS inspected products from 66 companies. Of 273 samples drawn, non-compliance was detected in 12 samples originating from eight companies.

Enforcement controls conducted from January to August resulted in 17 fines totalling 25,000 GEL being issued to ten companies for 19 non-compliant samples.

The National Wine Agency conducts systematic quality checks to enhance the competitiveness of Georgian wine and alcoholic beverages while safeguarding product standards across international export markets. The total number of infractions has fallen compared with previous years, reflecting the effectiveness of the national wine quality control framework.
