National Food Agency fines Picot importer for failure to notify mandatory recall

“The French manufacturer Lactalis Nutrition Santé (LNS) has announced a voluntary recall of specific batches of Picot baby milk products across several countries, including Georgia. This action comes amid concerns over the potential presence of the toxin Cereulide in certain batches, despite no reported health issues in any of the affected countries,” the National Food Agency stated.

According to the agency, inspectors from the Tbilisi Department inspected the importer, Uno Group.

“The business operator was fined for failing to provide the obligatory written notification to the agency regarding the product recall and the measures undertaken. Currently, specific batches identified for recall from the market include:

  • Picot 1 400G – 8000003312
  • Picot 1 800G – 8000003297
  • Picot 2 800G – 8000003280

The agency added that the company is actively executing the recall process under close supervision.

Furthermore, the National Food Agency advises consumers not to use any products from the specified batches if they have already purchased them.

“Only products from the aforementioned batches are subject to recall. This notice does not extend to other batches or other infant nutrition marketed under the Picot name,” the agency clarified.
