Myvideo.ge does not intend to execute GNCC’s decision regarding the suspension of the First and Second Channels and appeals to the court. The representatives of the company and the lawyers announced about it at the briefing today.
The case concerns to a dispute on transmission of matches of 2018 World Cup. Georgian National Communication Commission (GNCC) discussed the case on June 28.
“We are not going to fulfill this illegal decision. We will appeal it and we not leave millions of viewers without football matches until the court’s final decision. We ask the GPB Board of Trustees to be interested in and respond to the actions of the management of the channel which contradicts the universal principles of Public Broadcaster and other fundamental principles, ” – said Irakli Tsintsadze, head of Georgian Ads.
According to Tsintsadze, the decision of the GNCC is absurd and the demand of the Public Broadcaster is discriminatory.
“According to the law, Myvideo is the authorized transit company, such as” Magti “,” Silk TV “and hundreds of other cable and digital television. We were demanded to suspend the signal of the First and Second Channels of GPB not only during football matches but fully the whole air, which, by the way, was not requested by the Public Broadcaster, – representative of Myvideo said.
According to Shalva Tskhakaia, the lawyer of the company, the decision of the GNCC was adopted with violation of procedural norms.
“The decision is based on the evidence, adoption of which is inadmissible according to General Administrative Code. In addition, the decision went beyond the applicant’s request”, – Shalva Tskhakaia said.
Due to the World Cup, the Georgian National Communications Commission ordered Myvideo.ge to suspend the signals of the First and Second Channels on June 28. Accordingly, Myvideo.ge and other portals should limit the TV signal during World Cup matches.
