MTA Director views hosting Snowboard Cross World Cup as Georgia's success

Georgia’s ski and winter resort Gudauri hosts the 2024 FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup for the first time on February 3-4.

According to Irakli Burchuladze, Director of the Mountain Trails Agency (MTA), hosting the tournament is yet another success for Georgia.

“For the first time in history, Gudauri hosts the Snowboard Cross World Cup. This is yet another success of Georgia. The event is live transmitted on Eurosport. I hope the tournament will pass successfully. We have a good start and we prepared for the tournament ideally,” he said.

Ninety athletes from 17 countries participate in the tournament. The FIS race director of the competition, Uve Bayer attends the event, which will be broadcasted live on Eurosport.

In 2023, Bakuriani winter resort successfully hosted the FIS World Championship in Freestyle, Snowboard and Frisky.

This year’s event is held with the support of the Georgian government, the Mountain Trails Agency (MTA) of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.
